Purpose: A project was laid out to investigate the production status of medicinal plants and their role in diversity in the agricultural ecosystems of Kermanshah province. This study was carried out in rainfed and irrigation conditions in spring and autumn with the aim of identifying the ecotype, cropping season, environment (rainfed and irrigation), and suitable planting date in cold (Kangavar), temperate (Kermanshah) and hot (Sarpole-Zahab) climates of the province.
Methodology: Each experiment was performed in the form of a split-plot in a randomized complete block design with three replications. In each experiment, the main and sub-factors included two planting dates 14 days apart and five ecotypes of cumin, respectively.
Findings: The autumn and spring cumin in Kangavar and Kermanshah were destroyed due to the cold and poor germination. Cumin in spring cultivation in Sarpole-Zahab did not germinate well. The effect of environment for studied traits were highly significant in Sarpole-Zahab except plant weight.
Innovation: There is very little information about the yield potential of cumin in different conditions of Kermanshah.
Conclusion: The planting date of 10th December was significantly higher than the planting date of 27 November. The highest biological yield and plant height were significantly observed from the planting date 27 November in the irrigation site. The Kerman ecotype had a significant superiority in terms of 1000-seed weight with 3.16 grams. As the year of the experiment was unique, especially for cold, it is suggested to repeat the experiment for 3 years as the year is a random variable.
