Abstract
Kermanshah province, having large reserves of mineral bitumen, has several industrial units active in the production of mixed bitumen from vacuum bottom processing with mineral bitumen. Mixed bitumen produced with high added value and mainly for applications other than road construction is exported abroad. Unfortunately, the standardization of mixed bitumen production is a necessity. In this regard, technical parameters affecting the production of mixed bitumen were studied. A number of 32 samples of mixed bitumen were prepared using a combination of 5 to 20% by weight of raw and refined mineral bitumen (prepared from different mines of the country and Kermanshah province) with refinery bitumen (vacuum bottom) and two parameters of their softening point and degree of penetration They were measured according to specific standards. In order to evaluate standard mineral bitumen, some physical analyzes and FTIR identification were performed on raw and refined mineral bitumen. The obtained results showed that the parameter of mineral bitumen ash content is an important influencing factor in the properties of mixed bitumen and raw mineral bitumen should be classified and used in four ash concentration levels so that the final properties of mixed bitumen produced are stable and be clear.
