Abstract
The purpose of this research is to determine the amount of seed production of wild pistachio in the habitats of Kermanshah province and the relationship between seed production and the biometric characteristics of trees. For this purpose, 5 sites were selected in Gilan-Gharb, Dalaho, Salas Babajani, Javanroud and Paveh Counties respectively. Then sampling was done in each of these sites in a completely random way with 1 hectare sample plots. In each sample plot, the number of trees, the number of seed clusters, the number of seeds per cluster, dhb, stem and crown were measured and recorded. Spearman's correlation analysis was used to investigate the relationship between the biometric characteristics of trees and the amount of seed production. The findings showed that the amount of seed production is on average between 4186 and 1385 seeds per hectare. The output of the correlation analysis showed that there is no significant relationship between the amount of seed production and dbh in any of the site. Also, no significant relationship was observed between the stem quality and the amount of seed production. However, there was an inverse and significant relationship between the quality of the crown and the amount of seed production in all investigated habitats, so that the amount of seed production decreased with the increase of the amount of drying of the crown. The results obtained from this research can be practical and useful in estimating the amount of tree seed production according to the quality of tree crowns.
